Moving Services for Your Ohio to Florida Move

As a long distance moving company, our interstate movers plan each Ohio to Florida move around what you are taking, when you need to arrive and what has to happen in between.

Packing for a 900-Mile Trip

A two-day drive in a moving truck is harder on boxes than a move across town. We can pack your whole home or only the kitchen, artwork, mirrors and other fragile pieces, using moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape from our trucks. Packing is part of your written estimate, so you know the cost before moving day.

Car Shipping to Florida

Most people moving south want their car in Florida too. Our auto transport service ships a vehicle from Ohio to Florida while your household goods travel in our truck. That leaves you free to fly down or drive your second car.

Climate-Controlled Storage Between Homes

Closing dates and lease dates do not always line up with moving day. If your Florida home is not ready when you leave Ohio, we can keep your furniture and boxes in climate-controlled storage in the Cincinnati area or in Florida until you are ready for delivery.

Cost of Moving From Ohio to Florida

We price every Ohio to Florida move with a free binding estimate, which is a fixed price for the services listed on your quote. The total depends on how much you are moving, where in Florida it is going, how much packing you want, your dates and access at both homes, such as stairs, elevators or a long walk from the truck.

How Long an Ohio to Florida Move Takes

Cincinnati to Tampa is about 900 miles on I-75, or roughly 13 to 14 hours of driving before stops. Dayton adds about an hour at the start. Your written estimate lists the pickup and delivery dates we agree on before anything goes on the truck.

Picking Your Moving Dates

Florida’s hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. If you move in those months, keep a day or two of flexibility around delivery and watch the Tampa Bay forecast the week before. From December through February, Ohio snow and ice can slow loading at the start of the trip, so clear driveways and walkways the night before. Contact us four to six weeks ahead for the widest choice of dates.

Your First Weeks as a Florida Resident

Relocating to Florida starts a few state deadlines the day you become a resident, so it helps to plan them before the truck arrives.

  • Driver license: get a Florida license within 30 days of becoming a resident.
  • Vehicle title and registration: title and register your car within 10 days, with insurance from a Florida-licensed agent and a VIN verification for out-of-state vehicles.
  • Homestead exemption: if you own and live in your Florida home on January 1, apply to your county property appraiser by March 1.

The state’s Florida new resident requirements page lists the documents to bring to the tax collector’s office.

Licensed for Moves Between Ohio and Florida

Out of state movers need federal authority. Robinson Relocations operates under US DOT 3320340 and MC-1056379 for interstate moves, and our Florida office holds Florida mover registration IM4151 for moves within Florida. Before your interstate move, we give you the federal guide Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, which explains your estimate, your delivery dates and how claims work.
